Do you provide transportation for students?
No. The Sea of Strengths Academy does not currently provide transportation services. Parents
must drop off and pick up students at the designated times
Do you provide before and after school programs?
The Sea of Strengths Academy works with several after-school providers to establish pick up
service at the school. Most providers require a minimum of 3 students to establish pick up service.

How is lunch and snack provided?
Students bring a bag lunch and snack each day. The lunches are kept in our refrigerator until
lunchtime. Additionally, students may order lunch from the Jon Dough Bakery at a reduced price.
Do students need to wear uniforms?
Yes. The uniform consists of a light blue polo shirt and khaki or dark blue pants or shorts.
Is The Sea Of Strengths Academy accredited?
The Sea Of Strengths Academy will go through an accreditation process. Most accrediting
agencies require schools to be in operation for several years prior to applying for accreditation.
The reading programs offered by SOSA have been reviewed by the Florida Center For Reading
Research (FCRR). These programs have a great deal of research to support their use in working
to improve reading skills.
Is there any financial aid?
Students in Florida public schools may be eligible for the John McKay scholarship program. In
addition, there are a number of banks and other financial institutions that provide loans for private
school tuition.
Which students are appropriate for the Sea Of Strengths Academy?
Students in grades 1-6 who have been identified with learning disabilities, language impairment,
ADHD, or are simply struggling in math or reading. The Sea of Strengths Academy is not equipped
for students with diagnosed behavior problems or below-average intellectual ability. The Sea Of
Strengths Academy will review the IEP and student file prior to making enrollment decisions.
Does The Sea Of Strengths Academy follow the public school calendar?
Yes, in general the Sea Of Strengths Academy will follow the Manatee County Public Schools
calendar. The 2009-2010 school calendar is available here.

The school hours are from 8:15am - 2:45pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On
Wednesdays dismissal is at 1:00pm.
